For the third year in a row the Cranfills Gap cemeteries will be part of the Wreaths across America program. Last year, thanks to your generosity, we were able to lay a Christmas wreath on each of over 290 veteran’s graves at Cranfills Gap, Boggy and Rock Church cemeteries. No one was left out; each veteran was honored, and we would love to be able to do the same this year.

We also want to be able to contribute to and connect with our new Veterans’ Memorial being dedicated yesterday. We are excited to let you know that we will be able to do that through our new Cranfills Gap Wreath Support Group. Last year you could contribute to a particular grave or cemetery, or you could make a donation which would go to wherever there was a need at one of the three cemeteries. We will follow that same procedure this year. However, if you make your contribution through the Wreath Support Group, $5.00 from each wreath purchased will come back to us for this memorial. If we again place a wreath on all the veterans’ graves, we will raise $1450.00 for the Veteran’s Memorial.

Each wreath will cost $15.00, same as last year, and one-third of that will be returned to us as long as the wreaths are purchased through the Cranfills Gap Wreath Support Group. To buy a wreath you may go online to www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/tx0872p (the Support Group), or you may give your donation to one of the Location Coordinators: Larry & Darla Kinney (386-5690) for Boggy Cemetery, Cheryl Niemeyer (230-6188) for Rock Church Cemetery or Grover McMains (253-1669) for Cranfills Gap Cemetery. We will then make your wreath purchase through the Support Group.

Deadline for purchasing a wreath is Monday, November 30, 2020.

This date is earlier than last year due to the logistics of getting over 2 million wreaths distributed to over 2100 locations nationwide and overseas. Isn’t that amazing! We can honor virtually every deceased U.S. veteran each Christmas through this program, and Cranfills Gap is part of it.

The ceremony to lay wreaths will be on December 19. This year we will begin at Rock Church at 11:00, move to Boggy and conclude at Cranfills Gap. The Veterans Memorial will be dedicated on Wednesday, November 11th on Veterans Day at 11 a.m. in the Cranfills Gap City Park.

Sunset Home Sunshine Pen Pal Program

The Sunset Home Activities Department is looking for PEN PALS for our beloved residents! During this time, as many of you know, we are unable to have family and friends for in-door visits. Our residents are feeling the isolation and loneliness from being separated from their loved ones. Although it is all in an effort to protect their health, still their hearts and minds long for contact from the outside world. YOU can help make a difference in their lives RIGHT NOW! Join our Sunset Home Sunshine Pen Pal Program!

Simply write letters of encouragement, letters of what your day is like, letters asking how they feel and what their favorite things are, letters about their family, etc. This is YOUR opportunity to bless the lives of those most affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic. Join the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department and the Clifton 4H Club!
